Who Rides in the Funeral Car?

The funeral car that carries the casket is the hearse, and your funeral home provides it. The immediate family — spouse, children, parents and siblings — traditionally rides in the family car directly behind the hearse, followed by other family and then guests. That family car is ours.

When space is limited, your funeral director can help decide who rides where. Many families book the stretch limousine for the closest relatives and a Sprinter van or shuttle bus so the rest of the family can travel together instead of driving.

How Much Does a Funeral Limo Cost?

Funeral cars are booked by the hour, and most funeral days book 3 or 4 hours. Every rate below is the full price, with gratuity, fuel and GST included.

Large services

For Sikh and Hindu families, a funeral often moves a large group from the gurdwara to the crematorium and back for prayers and langar. We send as many shuttle buses as the group needs and keep them on standby through the cremation.

Family flying in

Relatives coming to town? Our Vancouver airport limo meets them inside the terminal, handles the luggage and brings them to the hotel, the family home or the service.

Ask your funeral director to book the family car directly with us. We work with many funeral homes across the Lower Mainland, so the family car and the hearse run to one timeline.

What we provide — and what we don’t

For the Family, Not the Hearse

We carry the family and guests; your funeral home carries your loved one. In British Columbia only licensed funeral providers may transport the deceased, so we do not supply a hearse — the family car follows the one your funeral home arranges.

In a procession our chauffeurs follow every traffic signal. Processions have no right of way in BC, so the cars may separate at a light and regroup at the cemetery or crematorium.

We do not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles. If someone in the family needs one, tell your funeral director when you plan the day.

Who normally goes in the funeral car?

How many people can you fit in a funeral limo?
Our black stretch limousine seats 8. For larger families, our Sprinter van seats 14 and our shuttle buses seat up to 28.
Do you provide the hearse?
No. The hearse is arranged by your funeral home. If you would like a limousine for the family, our Lincoln MKT stretch limousine is black.
How much does a funeral car cost?
It depends on the hours. A black Executive Sedan starts at $299.00 for 2 hours, all-in, and the price rises with each hour and with larger vehicles — the rate list above shows 3- and 4-hour prices.
How far in advance should we book?
Book at least a week in advance. Availability for earlier dates depends on the day. If the service time changes, we can adjust timing the day before, based on availability.
Can our funeral director book for us?
Yes. Contact your funeral director and ask them to book directly through us. We work with many funeral homes across the Lower Mainland.
Can the car wait during the service, cremation or langar?
Yes. Book by the hour and the vehicle stays on standby, so it moves on your timing rather than a fixed schedule.
Can you carry 40 to 60 people?
Yes. Book more than one shuttle bus. Each seats up to 28, so two buses carry 56 people and three carry 84.
Can you handle a same-day burial or a service outside Metro Vancouver?
Yes, we can handle those requests. Call us with the date, the locations and the number of people, and we will confirm what is available.
Can you pick up family arriving at Vancouver airport?
Yes. Our Vancouver airport car service meets arriving family inside the terminal, handles their luggage and brings them straight to the hotel, the family home or the service.
Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles?
No, we do not have wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
Is gratuity included?
Yes. Every quote already includes gratuity, so there is nothing to handle on the day.
